What is PennyPlan?
PennyPlan is a diary for your money. You tell it what you spent, and it organises that and helps you understand where your money goes.
What it is
- A record-keeping and insight tool. You log what you spent or received; PennyPlan sorts it into categories and explains what it means in plain language.
- One diary for all your money: bank accounts, mobile wallets, cash, POS withdrawals and ajo contributions, all in one place.
- Built to be quick. You will be able to log by typing a short phrase like “airtime 500” or “gave mum 5k”, by voice, by WhatsApp, or by forwarding a bank alert.
What it is not
PennyPlan is not a bank, a wallet, a savings product, a payment app or a lender. Your money never touches PennyPlan, at any point. If you record an ajo contribution, PennyPlan only keeps the record; it does not collect or pay out anything. This is a firm rule of the product, not a temporary limitation.
How it should feel
- Daily and weekly first. Nothing assumes you earn a fixed salary on a fixed date.
- Works on a basic phone, with poor data, and offline.
- Plain, local language, and never shaming. If you overspend, PennyPlan shows you; it does not scold you.
